Pitch Limit - C2C's Mobile Pitch Count Application
Pitch Limit Overview
As part of an effort to improve upon the safety of their athletes, schools and sanctioning bodies have begun adopting a series of steps, procedures, and formulas to track the number of pitches thrown by an athlete in middle and high school baseball.
In order to assist with compliance under the above-mentioned initiative, C2C will provide a mobile application for use by its member schools that allows designated individuals to report pitch counts during live baseball events.
Accessing the Pitch Limit App
Users can access this application at http://pitch.c2cschools.com.
Application Users
This application can support up to three (3) active users for any competition.
These users will be assigned to particular roles within the system. The roles are as follows:
- PCR (Pitch Count Recorder) -
- Home Team - The home team will have a user with PCR privileges that will select pitchers for their team and enter the number of pitches per inning for that pitcher.
- Away Team - The away team will have a user with PCR privileges that will select pitchers for their team and enter the number of pitches per inning for that pitcher.
- OPCR (Official Pitch Count Recorder) -
- Home Team - Any user from the home or away team, with the OPCR role, can serve as the game's OPCR. However, the game will only allow one (1) OPCR user for a competition and will ask the user if he/she is serving as the game's OPCR. The OPCR will verify entries from both team PCR's and, upon his / her verification, will allow the app to progress through the innings of the game.
About PCR / OPCR User Roles
Users will be granted access to roles by group administrators in the School Users & Staff interface in the Members' Area of www.c2cschools.com. Please contact your group administrator if you have issues with your particular user role.
How It Works - Brief Overview
So, in short, the entire pitch counting process is as follows:
- A PCR from both the Home and Away team will sign into the application and select the game for which to count pitches on the day of the game.
- An OPCR from either team will sign into the application, select the game for which to count pitches on the day of the game, and claim the OPCR role.
- The PCR's will select a pitcher for the first-half of the inning and begin to add pitches to that pitcher.
- The PCR's will select a pitcher for the second-half of the inning and begin to add pitches to that pitcher.
- Once the inning is complete, the PCR's will review their entries and submit those to the OPCR for verification.
- The OPCR will verify the pitch counts from both PCR's and will then submit the official pitch-count to the application.
- Once submitted, the OPCR will have the ability to either add a new inning or complete the game.
- The process is repeated until the OPCR selects the 'Game Complete' option and ends the event.
- Pitch count reports for the event will then be available by accessing the C2C Members' Area.
That's it!
How It Works - Deep Dive
You will work in this application through the use of a series of screens. Find details about those processes below.
Login Screen
First, you will need to head over to http://pitch.c2cschools.com and log in. You will need a C2C user account in order to do so. Head over to http://www.c2cschools.com/registration.html and register for an account if you do not have one.
You will need to have PCR or OPCR permissions for your group in order to interact with this app. Please see your group's C2C administrator if you need these permissions.
Available Games Screen
Once you sign in, you will be presented with a list of games for which you have permissions to count pitches. Games will populate the Available Games Screen beginning on the date of the competition and will remain available for 48 hours. Games will be listed in chronological order by date/time with upcoming games showing atop of the list and completed games showing at the bottom with the "Completed" tag.
OPCR Verification Screen
Once an OPCR user has selected a game,. the app will ask the user to verify whether or not he/she is serving as the game's Official Pitch Count Reporter (OPCR).
If another user has already denoted themselves as the game's OPCR, you will not be able to serve as the OPCR for the competition.
Verify Position Screen
If your account has been given the OPCR and PCR privileges, the app will direct those users to the Verify Position screen.
The Verify Position screen will then be used to determine the game's OPCR user and will also alert the user if an OPCR has already logged into the game.
New Inning Screen
Now that positions have been confirmed, the user will be brought to the new inning screen. The home team will be the first to select a pitcher for the event. Selecting 'Add Pitcher' will take the user to the add pitcher screen and allow the users to select the pitcher to count pitches for.
Add Pitcher Screen
After selecting 'Add Pitcher' from the new inning screen, users will be able to select a pitcher from the Team's Roster. This data is automatically populated in Pitch Limit from C2C's databases.
Pitch Entry Screen
Once a pitcher is selected, the users will now have the opportunity to begin counting pitches for that pitcher. At the appropriate time in the inning, the users can also switch to the other team to count pitches for that pitcher.
Confirm Entry Screen
Before each the inning’s pitch counts are submitted to the game’s OPCR, each user (OPCR & PCR) will have the ability to review and confirm their pitch counts.
Once the user is happy with his / her counts, he / she will select the 'Confirm' option to send the counts to the OPCR for review.
If any changes need to be made, the user can select the 'Go Back' option and make adjustments before confirming the counts.
Awaiting OPCR Screen
While the OPCR is verifying counts for the inning, PCR's will be presented with the Awaiting OPCR screen. Once the OPCR is finished and has started a new inning, the PCR will be returned to the new inning screen and the process will repeat for the remaining portion of the game.
If the PCR is not automatically redirected to the new inning screen once the verification process has been completed, the PCR will simply need to select the 'Refresh' option.
OPCR: Verify Counts Screen
Once the PCR's have submitted their counts for an inning, the OPCR will then compare the counts to his / her own and submit the final accurate pitch count to the Pitch Limit application.
After the counts have been verified the OPCR has two options:
- Add a New Inning
- End the Game
Inning Complete Screen(s)
Verifying the pitch counts will end an inning and take the OPCR to the Inning Complete screen. The OPCR can then either add a new inning, or complete the game. Adding an inning will return the PCR's to the new inning screen and the process will repeat until the game is over.
Game Complete Screen
Verifying the pitch counts will end an inning and take the OPCR to the Inning Complete screen. The OPCR can then either add a new inning, or complete the game. Completing the game will bring the OPCR the Game Complete screen. If the OPCR ended the game by mistake, a new inning can be created from here.
