PitchLimit Possible Scenarios - Suspended/Postponed Games
Suspended/Postponed Game Procedure
Game suspensions/postponements are a common occurrence in outdoor sports such as baseball and eventually, a game will be interrupted and forcefully ended due to inclement weather, or a number of other contingencies. Nevertheless, the game's pitch counts need to be submitted to and stored in the C2C database.
Scenario 1 : Game Suspends in Middle of Inning
(At least one (1) pitch thrown by either team's pitcher)
In the event of a game suspension/postponement occurring during the middle of an inning, all users (OPCR and PCR) will treat the situation as if the inning and game had ended.
Steps:
At the time of the official ruling of the game being suspended/postponed...
- The OPCR and PCR users will submit the inning's pitch count's
- The OPCR user will Verify that the counts are correct and submit from the OPCR:Verify Counts screen
- The OPCR user will then select the "Game Over" button from the OPCR: Inning Complete screen to end the competition
By ending the competition within the PitchLimit application, the OPCR user is officially submitting the game's pitch count data to the database.
Scenario 2 : Game Suspends at the Start of the Inning
(No pitches thrown by either team)
If a game suspension/postponement is ruled at the beginning of an inning, where neither team's pitchers have thrown a pitch, all users (OPCR and PCR) will still need to treat the situation as if the inning and game had ended. However, the PitchLimit application will not recognize that a new inning was ever recorded.
Steps:
At the time of the official ruling of the game being suspended/postponed...
- The OPCR and PCR users will submit as if counts were recorded for the inning.
- The OPCR user will then be brought back to the prevoius inning's "Inning Complete" screen where he/she will then select the "Game Over" button the end the competition.
